BUT FilmFestival Breda 2010

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

For this years poster of the BUT FilmFestival I tried something different. I made cardboard suits and a cinema setting and asked photographer Roel van de Laar to shoot the picture. First I tried to use cardboard typography aswel but that didn’t work out the way I was hoping… So we had to do another shoot. I am happy with the result and would like to thank Roel for helping me out. Also a big thanks to Rick and Rutger for modeling twice with this insane temprature

This is the poster I did for the Graphic Design Festival Poster project. 50 international designers were asked to design a A0 sized poster that will be displayed in the streets of Breda during the festival (8 - 30 may 2010). My poster is about learning the rules of the road because I am trying to get my drivers licence this summer

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Thursday december 10th I am asked to give a small presentation about my work during the Pecha Kucha Event. Pecha Kucha is japanese for No small talk, so I have to cut to the core. During the event 15 creatives like designers, illustrators, and photographers all present 20 slides for twenty seconds each. No more boring lectures, painful seminars or tiring presentations. Pecha Kucha Night offers the audience the experience of a dazzling range of speakers and images in one evening. So if you would like to see me screw up in front of 150 people, you can visit the event, that is part of the Breda Graphic Design Festival, for free this thursday 8pm at Centrum voor Beeldcultuur, Reigerstraat 16 in Breda.

Boiler 19/12

subs-site

Boiler is a new party concept of Mezz in Breda. A cool evening of partying to the electronic sounds of famous dj’s and local talent. For the second edition the main artists are The Subs (dj set) and I was asked to design a flyer / poster for the event. I made this giant squid that attacks a submarine (the subs) and i Thought it was a cool idea to make an actual giant squid on stage that attacks the dj’s. The event is on december 19th so i still have some time. Keep an eye on the website for an update with pictures!

subwalk-1-site
When Shop & Gallery Subwalk expanded this year they celebrated this with the exhibition “Step Your Game  Up” An exhibition with various artist like Merijn Hos, Loulou & Tummie and Ephameron to name a few. I also participated and was asked to do the flyer. I made a bodybuilder (the Hulk Hogan type) that can lift an entire mountain! The exhibition itself was really cool, we made a wall painting using only the Subwalk pink and black.

pers-site

flyer-2-site1

When I left college I had some contacts but since I wanted to work fulltime as an illustrator I had to do some selfpromotion. So I designed a promotional flyer. On the frontside a big illustration, on the back a brief explanation about me as an freelance illustrator / designer. I printed the flyer myself on colored a3 paper on an old heidelberg press, folded it up as a small flyer and sent it out to various people and companies I would like to work with. Besides I really enjoyed designing the project, it worked out really well.
